Outlander season six has now begun production ahead of its much-anticipated return to Starz. However, fans still do not have any answers about  Jamie Fraser’s (played by Sam Heughan) ghost. Viewers will remember how the apparition appeared in the opening episode of the show. However, it still remains a mystery why Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) has never thought to mention it to the highlander?

Why has Claire not made the connection with Jamie’s ghost?

In the opening episode of Outlander, viewers will remember how Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) sees a young Jamie watching Claire through the window.

However, when he went to confront the man, he disappeared into thin air and the author of the series has since revealed this is Jamie’s ghost.

The moment spooks Frank and fans will remember how he soon went inside and confided in Claire about it.

He said: “When he pushed past me he was close enough that I should have felt him brush my sleeve as he passed but I didn’t.”

In response, she alleviates his fears she has been unfaithful with another man but does acknowledge how puzzling the situation is.

Therefore, some viewers might have been left wondering why Claire has never mentioned the moment again since, especially as she later finds out a highlander man plays a huge role in her life.

As well as this, the mysterious ghost incident happened the day before another mysterious magical incident – her journey through the stones.

Given she then found herself among highlanders and had just experienced unexplainable magic, some might be wondering why she did not make any connection about it.

There does not seem to be a clear answer to this but it is possible Claire’s immediate time travelling situation focused her priorities on trying to understand what is happening to her at that moment.

As a result, it seems like Claire simply put the incident of the ghost to the back of her mind.

This is of course in comparison to how much the moment impacted her late husband Frank.

Frank was particularly preoccupied by the mysterious ghost as it happened just before Claire disappeared.

Fans will remember how in the opening season, he circulated images of the man he saw think he had taken Claire.

While he could not find any clear connections, he was obsessed with it for a time.

However, there is also a possibility Claire may make the connection between Jamie and the ghost at the end of the series.

This is because Gabaldon revealed to Express.co.uk how she expects to end the book revealing the truth of the ghost.

She explained in a recent interview about the moment: “It will be the last thing in the last book.”

Asked about whether she thinks fans will be pleased about this, she continued: “Oh I think so.

“I expect to leave them in floods of tears but you know feeling happy nevertheless.”

Therefore, it seems viewers will have to just keep patiently waiting for answers about the mysterious moment.

Outlander airs on Sundays on Starz and Mondays on Amazon’s Prime Video.
