Starz’s beloved historic series Outlander has been highly sought after since its explosive season five finale aired in 2020. Luckily for viewers, the stars of the show have remained transparent about the upcoming instalment without revealing too much detail. However, Jamie Fraser star has revealed a huge update about his character’s fate in season six.

Throughout Outlander Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) has been regarded as one the bravest highlanders in the shows.

He has also become a fan-favourite for his relationship with his wife Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and unwavering commitment to his family.

However, in the upcoming season six, it seems as though things could get challenging for the Scottish soldier.

Sam opened up about his character’s fate and dropped a major hint about having to relive the past.

In the interview with Outlander, Sam revealed: “I think Jamie’s past almost catches up with him slightly and or comes back to haunt him per se.

“We meet some characters that come back into Jamie’s life, and some are good, and some are more unsettling.

“This season we’ve had the build-up to this war of independence, this revolution and Jamie Fraser’s very much been a part of that.

“He’s been on the side of the British, he knows they’re the losing side.”

The actor continued: “As we get closer to that point the stakes are higher, not only exterior and the country as a whole but also Fraser’s Ridge.

“We start to see that things start to turn as a revolution in the home, as well,” Sam concluded.

One thing fans know for definite is the impending arrival of Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones), his children Malva Christie (Jessica Reynold) and Allan Christie (Alexander Vlahos).

After the showrunners released a sneak peek of the season six script it was revealed Jamie felt uneasy about the Christie family moving to Fraser’s Ridge

This was because the two had history, however, they weren’t friends – while Jamie’s past has yet to be explored, fans who have read the novels provided insight.

In the script, Jamie had filled his wife in about some of his relationship with Tom and she asked if the Ridge was the right place for them to stay, he confirmed.

However, the next line read: “But at the pit of his stomach, Jamie is uneasy. He can’t shake the feeling that Tom carries a grudge from their past.”

The upcoming instalment will be the onscreen adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s sixth book, ‘A Breath of Snow and Ashes.’ which will explore their history in detail.

Thankfully, fans who have read the best-selling series of novels have shared the Jamie and Tom go way back as they first met during their time in Ardsmuir prison where they were rivals.

As well as dealing with potential tension on the Ridge, season six will also explore the American Revolution and the effect it will have on the Frasers.

There is likely to be apprehension about which side they’ll be on because Jamie is Scottish, whereas his wife Claire is English.

With a brutal conflict on the horizon, viewers will have to tune in to find out Jamie’s fate in season six, sadly the release date has been pushed from March – however, express.co.uk will be updated.

Outlander seasons 1-5 are available to stream on Starz.
