Outlander: Season 7 Episode 3 preview
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Outlander season 7 and the Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon
Roger MacKenzie and his wife Brianna made a difficult decision when they decided to head back to the 20th century in Outlander recently.
The couple, played by Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton, went back through the stones after the character Claire Fraser discovered Brianna’s daughter Mandy had a heart defect that she was unable to treat in the past, reports The Daily Express US.
Roger and Brianna, along with their son Jemmy and newborn Mandy, returned to the modern day and got their daughter treated.
Their return was a devastating blow to both key characters, Claire and Jamie Fraser, as it created a distance being the family.
The plot twist has got many fans wondering if this is it for the family or if the MacKenzies and Frasers will be reunited again.
Season seven is following Diana Gabaldon’s seventh novel An Echo in the Bone, which sees the plot flitting between the 20th and 18th centuries.
An Echo in the Bone will see Roger and Brianna connecting with the Frasers via a series of letters written by Jamie and Claire, which the couple received in the future.
Those familiar with the Outlander novels will know Roger and Brianna do indeed go back to the past.
The pair enjoy their lives in the 20th century including all the modern amenities, such as flushing toilets, electricity and running water.
But it seems as time travellers, their lives and fates are intertwined with the Frasers.

Interestingly, the official Lionsgate+ account recently shared a video of stars Rankin and Skelton speaking to Balfe and Heughan about the parting of ways between the Frasers and MacKenzies.
In the video, Heughan said: “So, this is the last time we get to work together.” Rankin responded: “Yeah. Is that sad or a relief?”
Heughan gave the actors a farewell wave as Skelton joked: “Look how happy you two look about it.”
While Rankin added about the acting and producing duo: “I kinda feel like they have looked after us.”

In the ninth Outlander novel Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, Roger and Brianna decide to go back and be with the rest of the family – despite the American Revolutionary War now here.
After it was confirmed Outlander would be ending with season eight, it’s unclear whether the show will be using material from the final two books.
The writers may decide to take some of the bigger plot points from the latter novels and incorporate them into the final episodes, which means Brianna and Roger may return.
Another plot point fans are hoping to be addressed is the mystery of Jamie’s ghost with season seven teasing the Highlander has powers and can see the future in his dreams.
