After impressing week after week since first stepping out on the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor, expectations were high for Rose Ayling Ellis and Giovanni Pernice once more in Week Four. The pair were first up on Saturday as they performed a Cha Cha for the judges and BBC viewers, although received a rather lukewarm reception, with head judge Shirley Ballas even highlighting numerous “mistakes” made during the routine. So when Shirley and Motsi Mabuse decided to only give the pair a six out of 10, furious Strictly fans were quick to blast the verdict.

Craig Revel Harwood had given Rose and Giovanni a score of seven, while Anton du Beke gave an eight.

Shirley and Motsi’s sixes, therefore, were deemed particularly “harsh” by BBC viewers who made their thoughts known.

On Twitter, Rhys said: “If I was on Strictly and Shirley had the audacity to give me a 6 I would be booing so loud in front of Claudia cba x.” (Sic)

Padraig McCann echoed: “Harsh scores from Motsi and Shirley for Rose. #Strictly.”

Hannah Bolton weighed in: “I like Dan [Walker] but the fact that Shirley gave his Foxtrot a 7 last week and  Rose’s Cha Cha Cha a 6 this week is baffling #scd #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly2021.”

And Jack Walker agreed: “Rose doesn’t deserve as low as 6! Shame on Motsi & Shirley #Strictly.”

While Barry Melody was similarly confused.: “@bbcstrictly what is going on who scores lower than Craig ever. Motsi and Shirley need glasses IMHO #Strictly.” (Sic)
