Rhona Goskirk’s (Zoe Henry) mother, Mary (Louise Jameson) will make her arrival to the Emmerdale village in upcoming episodes.
Described as ‘well-travelled, free-flowing and bohemian’, Mary rocking up to the village is set to impact Rhona’s family set up dramatically.
Coming up, Rhona decides to propose to Marlon (Mark Charnock)!
She gets down on one knee to propose but things quickly come to a halt thanks to Mary’s arrival.
As Mary prepares to meet her family, there’s another reason behind her paying a visit to the village as Louise Jameson reveals:
‘Covid, for her, has shone a light on her loneliness and the importance of family and she’s really trying hard to make amends.’
‘Mary admits to loneliness when she’s in the village. A very close friend of hers died, and she didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye, she knew she was coughing, saw the ambulance and then never saw her friend again.
‘It left Mary feeling very…she describes loneliness as being “dark and soul destroying”, I think a lot of people can probably identify with that.’
