Strictly Come Dancing’sAdam Peaty and his dancing partner Katya Jones have insisted that they were “just acting” when they almost kissed on air.
The 26-year-old Olympian told fans they had got “carried away” with the idea of a romance after viewers became convinced that the pair had kissed at the end of their steamy tango to Tango in the Night by Fleetwood Mac.
Speaking on Radio 2 today with Zoe Ball, Katya explained that the dancing duo were simply trying to maintain “intensity” following critiques from the judges.
She said: “The judges kept saying we’re not connecting the emotion to the dance” and that the choreographers urged the pair to “keep the intensity throughout the entire dance and at the end”.
“So we made them proud,” the dancer quipped.
“It’s being believable, isn’t it?” Adam chimed in.
“You don’t want to do a dance like that and not do it justice because you haven’t switched on at the end.
“That’s what I think some people get carried away with. But, hey ho, that’s life, isn’t it?”
He added: "It's easy to get lost in the moment with the adrenaline, because I get so much adrenaline when performing, especially when she was on my shoulders and my arms were open.

"I looked at the other celebs that side of the room and I was like, 'Yes, I am good here.’
"Then my head was like, 'Calm down, calm down, because I'm not finished yet.’
"There was so much emotion at the end, and when we finished Katya made a noise."
It comes after Adam’s partner Eiri Munro, the mother of his son, joked about “watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live TV”.

In the self-filmed clip, she threw her head back in fake distress and added: "Finding out 10 million other people also watched it live,” while pretending to sob again.
Adam recently took to Twitter to post a scathing warning to the those followers who accused him of falling prey to the Strictly curse.
He began: “My favourite dance so far. Thank you to everyone who has sent supporting messages! I loved it.”
He then continued: "To everyone who wants to see what they want, your comments have real life consequences. I will not be overcome or lowered by your gossip.
"Protect your energy.”
The sizzling performance earned Adam and Katya their highest marks of the series so far and they sailed through to next week as Greg Wise became the latest celebrity to leave.
