This Morning fans ‘switch off’ as they call for Dermot to replace Holly as host

This Morning: Holly and Dermot welcome viewers to the show

This Morning viewers threatened to change channels after seeing Holly Willoughby on their screens on Monday.

She was appearing alongside Dermot O’Leary for the first show of the week, during which the pair spoke to Gyles Brandreth and Matthew Wright about the latest headlines.

The show had only just kicked off when viewers started taking to Twitter to slam Holly’s presenting.

CAROL said: “#ThisMorning well been away for two weeks on holiday just switched on to see @AlisonHammond on #thismorning with @radioleary and who do I get @hollywills!! Wt no thanks if it’s not Alison and Dermot I’m not watching tarrah.” [Sic]

MeMeMeMeMe73 penned: “Just turned #ThisMorning on – pleased to see Dermot on, but Holly? Nah…”

Calling for Dermot to take over as permanent host, fans flocked to the social network to share their thoughts.

Victoria wrote: “Can I just say, love Dermot on This Morning.”

Denise said: “#thismorning need to make @radioleary a permanent host, his conversation with Giles & Matthew was brilliant. Holly was silenced which is always a good thing.”

Commenting on one of Holly’s ‘habits’, Rebecca Ward questioned: “Why does Holly constantly fiddle with her fingers? #thismorning”

As Holly and Dermot introduced Monday’s episode, Holly said to Dermot: “He’s already dancing! It’s a Monday and you are full of beans.

“Did you have a lovely Father’s Day yesterday, by the way?” she asked her co-star.

“Aww man, it was the best,” Dermot replied. “My son is just obsessed with trains so I spent most of my weekend on tubes.”

“That is so sweet,” Holly said as Dermot continued to fill her in on his special weekend.

The viewer comments come after ITV teased Phillip Schofield’s permanent replacement would be announced in the near future.

A spokesperson for ITV said it would make further announcements on future presenters of the show “in due course”.

“In the meantime, we will draw on the This Morning family for presenters to co-present with Holly,” they added in a statement to The Journal.

This Morning airs on weekdays on ITV from 10am
