This Morning's Phillip Schofield detailed the shocking treatment gay people continue to face.
Presenting Thursday's instalment (June 30) of the ITV show with co-host Holly Willoughby, Phil, 60, welcomed Gok Wan to the studio as they celebrate 50 years of Pride.
The 47-year-old fashion consultant spoke passionately about the subject that's close to his heart and revealed a mutual friend of his and Phil's was recently spat on simply because he's gay.

Phil chimed in and referred back to a conversation he had earlier in which he confirmed his friend was fired from his job after he came out as gay.
"I had a phone call with someone I know and their friend has just decided to come out, later in life, and has been fired," Phil explained.
He added: "But it happened openly in an email – 'You can't work for me because you're gay'."
"That fully blows my mind," a shocked Gok responded.
He added: "This is why, it isn't just a party on Saturday, it's about standing for equality. We've got a long long way to go."
The How to Look Good Naked host confirmed he will be attending London Pride on Saturday (July 2) alongside Phil, who came out as gay in February 2020.
"I'm so proud when it comes to pride month. On Saturday I will be with Phil when we're going to be on the bus in the parade and we're going to be surrounded by hundreds of thousands of people," Gok chimed.
The Say Yes To The Dress presenter revealed that despite the positivity that surrounds the parade, a part of him will be "empty" because of the barriers gay people continue to face.
He added: "Whilst the music is wonderful and the colours are wonderful and everyone is standing there in joyfulness, there is a part of my heart that will be empty."
Gok detailed the reason why pride is so important for him, explaining that other countries in the world are so far behind everyone else.
"There are countries around the world where just me being me right now, I legally could be killed," he revealed.
"I quite like who I am and I'm happy with who I am, so the idea that somebody could take my life because of who I choose to fall in love with, who I choose to share my body with and so Pride for me is really important."
Viewers took to social media to share their gratitude at the ITV show sharing this segment, with one saying: "#thismorning thank you for doing the segment to raise awareness for #pridemonth."
"Great piece on #pride on This Morning," a second penned.
While a third wrote: "#Thismorning it's beautiful to see the emotion of this subject on Phils face, after his experience."
