Warrant issued for man who stalked Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man who stalked actress Stephanie Davis, who is best known for her role on Hollyoaks.

Alex Boston, 44, failed to attend Wednesday’s sentencing hearing at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court.

He pleaded guilty last month to an offence of stalking involving serious alarm and distress between April 2020 and July 2021, having bombarded Stephanie, 28, with social media messages and letters.

He also visited her home.

District Judge Paul Healey issued a warrant without bail for the defendant’s arrest after his non-appearance.

The CPS previously said that Stephanie had suffered panic attacks and had to move out of her home due to the ‘frightening and distressing campaign of obsessive and unwanted contact’.

Boston was identified through his Instagram account and fingerprint evidence on the letters, the CPS said.

More letters intended for Stephanie were found at his address.

Stephanie is best known for her work in Hollyoaks, where she portrayed Sinead O’Connor across various stints in the show.

The 28-year-old made her debut in the Channel 4 soap back in 2010, before departing in 2015. She reprised her role three years later in 2018.

Stephanie decided to step down from the role in 2020, admitting it was ‘not on what she wanted but what she knew was right’.

Sharing a statement alongside an image that read ‘goals: be happy’, Stephanie penned: ‘Sometimes we make decisions based not on what we want but what we know is right!

‘I have loved bringing Sinead into your homes for the past ten years but it’s with a heavy heart I have decided to leave Hollyoaks and now looking forward to working on new and exciting projects. Excited!’

A Hollyoaks spokesperson told Metro.co.uk at the time: ‘In mutual agreement with Lime Pictures, Stephanie Davis is leaving her role as Sinead O’Connor on Hollyoaks.

‘We would like to thank Stephanie for her huge contribution to the show and the enjoyment her character Sinead has brought to fans.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Stephanie’s reps for comment.
