When shopping for new skin care products, you probably head to a beauty store like Sephora or Ulta. But sometimes, it takes branching out a bit to find those extra special formulas that make your skin look and feel incredible.

When my go-to moisturizer ran out earlier this summer, I decided to spend a few weeks exploring other options. There was nothing wrong with the moisturizer, per se; I just wanted to see if I could find good facial moisturizers from smaller brands that might benefit more from my money than a mass-market company.

As the weeks went by, I didn’t just find one moisturizer I loved; I found three! Read on below for why these really good facial moisturizers are all now part of my skin care rotation.

1. Fleur & Bee Crème de la Cream, $24

BUY NOW

Fleur & Bee’s Crème de la Cream is my new go-to everyday moisturizer. It is rich, thick and creamy, which is great for my sometimes dry skin. If you’re looking for a lightweight cream, this isn’t it. But if you want a product that really feels like it hydrates and nourishes your skin all day long, you won’t be disappointed by this one. I’ve also found that this cream makes my skin look brighter and more refreshed, even when I’m running on just a few hours of sleep. Texture aside, I also really appreciate that this cream is made with sustainably sourced, natural ingredients, yet it doesn’t cost a fortune. I can apply a generous amount to cover my whole face and neck and not stress when it’s time to buy a new jar because it’s not super expensive.

2. Femmue Ideal Camellia Facial Oil, $65

BUY NOW

I use Femmue’s Ideal Camellia Facial Oil when my skin is feeling extra dry (or even flaky) and it works like a charm every time. I sometimes even apply it before bed like a night cream and when I wake up my skin looks super glowy and feels so soft. If you’re new to facial oil, you should know a little goes a long way. That’s especially important with this Femmue formula because it’s pretty pricey. That said, if you can afford to splurge, this Facial Oil is definitely worth it. I’m looking forward to using it in the fall and winter to keep my skin hydrated and healthy when the weather is cold and dry.

3. six gldn Essential Moisturizer, $68

BUY NOW

On days when my skin is maybe a bit more oily than normal, the Essential Moisturizer by six gldn is what I reach for. When I first tried it, it was so lightweight that I didn’t think it would do anything. But it actually did keep my skin moisturized for the whole day, plus it gave me a pretty dewy finish. I’ll be honest, I don’t plan on using this moisturizer every day because my budget won’t allow it. But it will definitely be my special occasion moisturizer, like for date nights or important work meetings, because it makes my skin look so healthy and smooth. To stay up to date on the latest beauty trends, popular products and must-shop sales, subscribe to our Beauty newsletter here.
