B&Q staff change firm's name to 'D***head Ltd' after owner tried to return paint

A FURIOUS business owner was horrified to discover B&Q had changed his company's name to “D***head Ltd” for their accounts.

B&Q has now launched a probe after Chika Nwosu, 44, found the insult while trying to take some goods back to the warehouse chain's DIY Tradepoint.

He said problems first started following an argument with staff at his local store last year.

Speaking to the Sun Online, Chika, 44, who owns IQ Tech, said he had been returning paint bought by his wife at the Romford store.

The return was almost complete when he was asked for the original card used in the transaction.

As Chika's wife Julie had bought the paint he didn't have the original card.

But the store worker agreed to sign his receipt to allow him to return the products later.

Chika was then challenged over the tins of paint by a second worker as he was returning some other items on the other side of the store.

He told The Sun Online: “The attendant said to me – ‘have you paid for those paints?’ And I gave the story of what happened.

“I handed the receipt to her and she asked why it had been crossed out, and I said there was a note written on there and signed about what had happened.

“But she said no, I’m not going to let you walk out of the shop.”

Mr Nwosu, who has an account with the store, said that after explaining the situation several times, the worker eventually allowed him to leave.

Then, when his wife returned to the B&Q a few weeks later, staff were unable to find the firm's account through her name or postcode.

It wasn’t until she returned with her account card and it was scanned that the account was found – but had been renamed “D***head Ltd” and under a different postcode.

Mr Nwosu said: “It was just malicious, I couldn’t believe it.”

The couple have since complained to the company, knocking back a £30 goodwill gesture voucher.

He said that the company had claimed the worker had left the store – with the account name change one of the last things she did.

But he said he had seen her working there since.

He said: “I’ve been hoping it would be resolved, but it hasn’t gone anywhere.

“If they had changed the account name to something else, maybe it would be more bearable.

“But to change it to d***head, it’s derogatory.

“I didn’t think anyone would do such a thing."

A B&Q spokesperson said: "We are aware of this incident and offer our unreserved apologies to Mr Nwosu.

"B&Q took this extremely seriously and full investigation was carried out with appropriate action taken."
