Liverpool crash: Woman, 24, dies after she's hit by lorry as man, 51, arrested for 'causing death by dangerous driving' | The Sun

A WOMAN has died after being hit by a lorry this morning, with a man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The collision took place at a petrol station in Liverpool at around 8.30am this morning, cops confirmed.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, a 51-year-old man from Lancashire, stopped at the scene and has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He remains in custody while investigations continue.

A road closure is in place and police have urged drivers to avoid the area to allow "vital" investigative work to be carried out.

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the MATRIX Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "We have launched an investigation following the death of a woman in a road traffic collision this morning.  

"Her next-of-kin have been informed, and our specially trained officers are supporting them at this extremely difficult time and our thoughts are very much with them.

"Any death on the road causes a huge amount of heartache to family and friends left behind."
