Mourners wear blue as they line streets to bid farewell to murdered Bobbi-Anne McLeod

TEARFUL mourners lined the streets today for the funeral of murdered teen Bobbi-Anne McLeod.

The 18-year-old was bludgeoned with a hammer as she waited in a bus stop close to her home in Plymouth in November.

She is being laid to rest today in an emotional service a week after serial-killer obsessed Cody Ackland was jailed for her murder.

Mourners wearing band t-shirts and the colour blue at her heartbroken family's request lined the streets today to pay tribute to Bobbi-Anne.

The procession left the teen's home in Leigham this morning before making its way to St Andrew's church.

Her pale blue coffin was carried on its final journey in a horse-drawn carriage with flowers spelling out her name.

It was adorned with teddies of the character Stitch from Lilo and Stitch.

A family friend said: "If you would like to line the street in Leigham you are more than welcome. Dress code is band t-shirts such as Pink Floyd , Nirvana, ACDC, Green Day, Guns and Roses, Queen, Eminem and Oasis.

"If you cannot get one just an ordinary blue t-shirt will be fine but please try for the band t-shirts as she loved wearing these with black trousers or black jeans no rips please.

"If any flowers please send to Shelley Harvey at Plymouth and District Funeral Services in Plymstock. This is open to the public but please be respectful and no drinking in or around church.

"We all stand together with Bobbi’s family at this really sad time."

Cody Ackland, 24, pounced on Bobbi-Anne in a bus stop in Plymouth and battered her repeatedly in a "prolonged, frenzied, sadistic attack".

The musician then drove Bobbi-Anne to Dartmoor where he killed her, stripped her naked and dumped her body.

The court heard how in his interview with police, Ackland revealed Bobbi-Anne said she was "scared" as he carried her to woodland.

Brave Bobbi-Anne actually fought for three hours after suffering an initial brain injury before passing away after Ackland stood on her neck to suffocate her.

Her naked body was discovered three days later 15ft down an embankment in Bovisand where the fiend regularly partied.

It revealed last week that Ackland led a sadistic double life where he idolised serial killers such as Ted Bundy.

He aspired to be just like the mass-killer – even "modelling" Bobbi-Anne's brutal murder on Bundy's own sickening crimes.

The fiend also kept a macabre stash of more than 3,000 gruesome images of mutilated bodies on his phone that showed a "deep rooted fascination in death".

In a victim impact statement, Bobbi-Anne's mum Donna McLeod said: "Bobbi was a beautiful girl who lit up our lives and the lives of everyone she ever met. She was kind, funny, and loyal.

"She was the best daughter, the best sister, and the best friend to so many people. Everybody who knew Bobbi loved her. We have been robbed of our beautiful girl in the worst possible way and our lives will never be the same without her.

"I want Cody Ackland to know that he has taken away our world. We will never see her beautiful face or hear her laugh, see her get married or have the children she so wanted. So many everyday things have been taken away. Her not being here is still unimaginable.

"Our lives have changed forever. We have not been able to say goodbye to Bobbi-Anne and we can only imagine the things he did to her – the thoughts are continually going around in our minds. Why Bobbi-Anne? Why make her suffer? To know her final hours were spent being tortured destroys us inside.

"Bobbi-Anne was so loved and had so many life plans; he cruelly ripped that life away from her and us. We can't even contemplate a future without her in it. There will never be anything the justice system can impose that will ever come close to what he deserves."
