Norway’s King Harald fell to the ground on the red carpet as he arrived in Denmark for an official visit today, before he was helped up in front of a concerned Queen Margrethe.
The 86-year-old monarch and Queen Sonja took a royal ship to the Nordre Toldbod waterfront area in Copenhagen this morning.
The royal couple were helped off the boat for the welcome ceremony, hosted by Denmark’s Queen.
King Harald can be seen hobbling on crutches at the bottom of the red carpet.
His wife then follows and they make their way up a flight of stairs lined with sailors in white uniform towards the historic building where royal guards are stood waiting.

In the footage, King Harald appears to fall to his knees just as he has reached the final step but is caught by one of the staff members. Photos show another staff member joining in to help.
He then greets Queen Margrethe, 83, by kissing her on both cheeks.
He remains in good spirits as they have a quick chat before he moves on to greet the others.
The royal couple will be in Denmark until June 16, with the visit ending in Aarhus.
King Harald spent time hospitalised in Oslo with an infection in May.
A brief statement at the time read: ‘The king has been diagnosed with an infection that needs to be treated, and will therefore remain in hospital for a few days.’

The Palace added in a later statement that his condition ‘is improving but he will be on sick leave until the end of the week’.
King Harald has been relying on crutches for a number of years. The infection in May was the second time he had been admitted to hospital over a period of six months.
In December, the monarch was treated for an infection at the same hospital, where he received intravenous antibiotics.
King Harald underwent a leg operation in January last year before contracting Covid-19 in March and spent time in hospital in August with another infection.
He also went through a successful operation to replace a heart valve in October 2020 after being admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties.
