Paul Grant death latest: Actor who played an Ewok in Star Wars passes away at age 56 after collapsing outside Kings Cross station

Star Wars and Harry Potter actor Paul Grant has died at the age of 56, his family has confirmed.

The father-of-three was found collapsed outside Kings’ Cross station by police on Thursday afternoon.

A family friend of Grant told The Sun that Grant ‘was a lovely bloke’. They added: ‘He’s always battled with drugs and alcohol addiction but he was a talented actor.’

Grant spoke out in 2014 about how he blew all his cash on drink, drugs and prostitutes as his life spiralled out of control after breaking up with his wife.


Tributes from loved ones poured in after the shock death of Star Wars actor Paul Grant.

His girlfriend Maria Dwyer, 64, told The Sun: ‘Paul was the love of my life. The funniest man I know. He made my life complete. Life is never going to be the same without him.’

Daughter Sophie Jayne Grant, 28, from Peterborough, told The Sun: ‘I’m devastated. My dad was a legend in so many ways.

‘He always brought a smile and laughter to everyone’s face.’

She added: ‘My dad I love you so much sleep tight.’ 

The actor first appeared on screens as an Ewok alongside fellow British actor Warrick Davis.

His next role was playing a goblin in the children’s film Labyrinth starring David Bowie, again alongside Davis.

Paul, who famously played an Ewok in Return of the Jedi where he starred alongside Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, was rushed to hospital where he was declared brain dead.
