TikTok star left lip filler treatment mid-way through after bank account frozen

A TikTok star claims she had to leave her lip-filler appointment with only half of her mouth plumped after her bank accounts were frozen.

Hareem Shah, a Pakistani online content creator, apparently found herself on Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s radar after she posted a video showing herself with two big stacks of cash.

Investigators are said to have started a probe into Ms Shah on January 12, suspecting the video-maker may be laundering money.

But she only discovered she was not able to use her bank accounts while she was in the middle of getting lip filler.

She was not sure if she would be able to pay for the treatment and ended up walking out of the salon with only one part of her lip done.

Naturally, Ms Shah posted a video to tell her 6.5 million followers about the bizarre situation.

Translated from Urdu to English by India Today, she said: ‘I am in the UK right now. Today I went to the doctor to get my lip filler done.

‘The doctor had just inserted a filler on one side of my lip when I received a call and I got to know that the Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency has frozen my bank accounts.’

She went on to explain why she had enough cash to cause concern, saying she had drawn a ‘heavy amount’ of British pounds to spend in the UK.

It was suggested she had opted to use cash because the Pakistani government had not ‘increased the value of Pakistani currency the way they have promised to’.

The viral video ended as a warning to those planning to travel with cash to ‘be careful’ because ‘they catch you’.

Ms Shah filed a petition against the FIA on Monday, asking that any money laundering hearing be postponed to March 8, according to local media.

It was originally set for January 19 – a few days after the FIA reportedly started its investigation – but Ms Shah’s lawyers explained the vlogger was in the UK and would not be able to get back to Pakistan in time.

The Sindh High Court also said the FIA should take no coercive action against Ms Shah in the meantime.
