Ciaté London unveils a Disney & Pixar Edna Mode collaboration

It’s the collection we didn’t know we needed.

The Incredibles may have been released in 2004, but everyone still remembers the iconic character Edna Mode, who this collection is centred around.

Ciaté London has collaborated with Disney and Pixar to create a face and eye palette, two vivid gel eyeliners, and an innovative lip powder.

All of the items are colourful, with the eyeliners in particular as one is a bright cyan and the other is a peachy pink.

At an online launch event, renowned makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes walked press through the collection, demoing how easy it is it to make the bold collection wearable.

And of course, being Katie Jane Hughes, she had some unique makeup application tips to share.

Mostly bizarrely perhaps, she warned to not forget the ears when applying products like blusher.

Saying that she can always spot it when ears are significantly different in tone to the rest of the face – especially the cheeks – using a brush to buff in any leftover product onto the ears gives a more unified look.

When applying blush, her other tip is to ‘gently connect eyes to cheeks’.

Again, that’s not to say you load up blusher onto your temples (though, that’s a look in itself) – it’s about sweeping over remnants of colour on the brush to avoid harsh lines.

Here other key tip to save time when applying makeup in a hurry – something we all could do with advice on – is to use small brushes.

Katie explains they force you to use less product, and therefore there’s less to blend into the skin.

Rather, you’re ‘applying colour impactfully’ and achieving a less is more approach.

As for her favourite piece from the new collection, she says Lip Shadow is a ‘no brainer’.

Looking almost like an eyeshadow on first glance, it plays on the soft blurry matte trend we’re seeing in makeup.

These textures give a diffused finish for subtle colour and minimal transfer (making it perfect for masks).

Katie says she applies the product either with the pad of a finger or an eyeshadow brush.

She also loves the wet look some of the high shine powder eyeshadows give in the Never Look Back Face and Eye Palette.

It’s a unique launch and Katie’s expert tips make us want it even more.
