Alanis Morissette has shared an emotional new single, “I Miss the Band,” as a tribute to her backing band.
In “I Miss the Band,” Morissette opens up about the relationship she shares with her bandmates and how much she misses them.
“The inside joke well understood,” she sings, “The nudge nudge wink wink/And finishing each other’s harmonies.”
Morissette also released a music video for “I Miss the Band,” directed by Victor Indrizzo. The video features behind-the-scenes footage from past tours.
“Deeply yearning to play live music again,” the video’s description says. “The sweat, the rapture, the movement, the love. I miss seeing your faces and being with my bandmates. Soon… we’ll be back together.”
Proceeds from the new track benefit Backline, a resource that connects music industry professionals and their family members with mental health and wellness providers.
