Thomas Markle, 76, gave an exclusive interview with Piers Morgan, 55, and Susanna Reid, 50, on Good Morning Britain this morning to share his thoughts following his daughter Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, which was aired on CBS and ITV this week. Denise Welch, 62, has since queried her dad’s intentions as she pointed out Piers’ treatment towards Meghan, in view of her 490,000 Twitter followers.

Within her chat with Oprah Winfrey, the Duchess of Sussex said she was left feeling suicidal during her time in the royal family.

She also made claims that there were concerns about how dark her son Archie’s skin colour would be by an unknown family member.

Piers has said he “doesn’t believe a word” Meghan said during her chat, which included her husband Prince Harry in the latter part.

The Good Morning Britain host has also slammed the pair in the past for giving interviews after they stepped back from their royal duties to lead a private life.

Thomas caught up with Piers and Susanna on Good Morning Britain today to share his thoughts.

During their conversation, Meghan’s dad said the last time he spoke to the couple was when he said he couldn’t attend their wedding in 2018, due to having a heart attack.

“At that point we pretty much said goodbye,” he said.

“Actually it wasn’t quite saying goodbye, Harry had said to me at that point, ‘If you had listened to me, this wouldn’t have happened to you’.”

He went on to say considering he was in hospital, Harry’s response was “kind of snotty so I hung up on him”.

Querying Thomas’ comments, Denise wrote: “How do you hang up on a text?

“Listen I feel sorry for this man, but he has chosen to speak more than once to Piers Morgan, who has led the press charge for years in bullying his daughter.

“I wouldn’t speak to my dad either.”

The Loose Women panellist has since deleted her tweet.

Thomas was queried about the key points in Meghan and Harry’s interview as well as his relationship with his daughter.

Discussing alleged concerns about Archie’s skin colour, Meghan’s dad he hoped this was “just a dumb question”.

He said: “I have great respect for the royals and I don’t think the British royal family are racist at all. I don’t think the British are racist.”

“I’m guessing and hoping it’s just a dumb question from somebody.

“It could just be that simple, it could be somebody asked a stupid question, rather than being a total racist.”

Thomas also agreed he thinks the pair’s interview should’ve been delayed due to Prince Phillip’s current health woes.

He added: “They went way over the top with it, these stories with Oprah, and should have waited.

“Considering the Queen’s age and Philip’s age, they certainly should have waited or tried to wait.”
