Christie Brinkley is taking her new hip out for a ride.

The former supermodel, 66, revealed on Instagram that she received a hip replacement over Thanksgiving, 26 years after her near-fatal Telluride, Colo. helicopter crash.

“The pain in my hip got a little bit worse each year. 12 years ago I was told it needed to be replaced but the surgery was daunting ! And I had things to do!” she explained on the social medium. “But quarantine put a damper on any plans so I decided to finally take time for myself and do something about the pain that had progressively influenced my decisions.

“I wanted to be ready to be able to say yes to opportunity.”

Brinkley’s surgery was a success, finding herself dancing by New Year’s and exploring “the coral reefs propelled by my new hip” just days later.

The mom of three opened up about her surgery with hopes that people won’t put off something that will benefit them because of fear.

“I can’t tell you how happy I am to have done this,” she wrote. “Now I can focus on getting back in shape and rebuilding my strength.”
