BRENDAN RODGERS was left flabbergasted after watching Aaron Ramsdale's outrageous save to deny Harvey Barnes.

Shortly before half-time and trailing 1-0, Leicester began to ramp up the pressure on Arsenal with a string of corners.


And Rodgers thought his side had drawn level after Harvey Barnes unleashed a ferocious header from Marc Albrighton's cross.

The ball appeared to be flying into the top corner.

But Ramsdale had other ideas as he flung himself to his left to tip the ball over the bar.

Amid a chorus of 'oohs' from around the Emirates, Rodgers – still with his hands in the air believing his side had equalised – turned around looking positively befuddled.

The Manchester United managerial target mouthed 'wow', puffed out his cheeks and pulled a face that appeared to say 'respect'.

Clinton Morrison led the praise for Ramsdale after his heroic save and called for him to be given a shot as England's No1.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, the former Crystal Palace striker said: "It is a fantastic save from Aaron Ramsdale.

"It is top drawer.

Fans were also quick to pile praise on Ramsdale, with one asking: "Is there a better contender for signing of the season other than Ramsdale?"

Another joked: "I'm taking Ramsdale over prime Iker Casillas."

A third said: "Everyone joked and laughed when Arsenal signed Ramsdale.. but now he's one of the biggest reasons for Arsenal achieving top four."

Arsenal fans at the Emirates didn't miss the opportunity to show their love for Ramsdale either.

Shortly after his remarkable save, a section of the crowd erupted in a chorus of: "England's No1."

Alexandre Lacazette later thumped home from the spot to double his side's lead after Thomas Partey's early header opened the scoring for the top-four-chasing Gunners.

The 2-0 win sees Arsenal move back ahead of Manchester United into fourth – one point ahead with THREE games in hand.
