West Ham step up transfer chase for Nottingham Forest centre-back Joe Worrall but face competition from two rivals

WEST HAM are set to offer Joe Worrall Premier League football next season if Nottingham Forest miss out on promotion.

Hammers scouts stepped up their interest in the 6ft 4in centre-back as his impressive displays have helped Steve Cooper’s men chase glory in the league and FA Cup.

And David Moyes’ most trusted aides are telling him to bid for Worrall if Forest fail to go up from the Championship.

Forest may need to sell if they do not get promoted — and would want somewhere between £12million and £15m for Worrall.

Brentford tried for the 25-year-old Worrall at the start of the season and others have kept tabs on him — including Everton, whose defence is being cruelly exposed in their disastrous campaign.

But Hammers look favourites with boss Moyes planning to add TWO centre-halves in the summer transfer window.

They could sell Issa Diop at the end of the season while fellow defender Craig Dawson is also entering the last year of his contract.

Moyes’ men also checked on Sheffield United’s reliable John Egan, 29, again last week.

Like Worrall, Egan could be sold in the summer if the Blades do not go up.

And the price would be in West Ham’s range because of his age and a salary that United may need to shed.

The Republic of Ireland defender would also be keen to return to the Premier League after suffering relegation with the Bramall Lane club last season.
