Many fans are worried about Kim Wexler’s (Rhea Seehorn) fate in the final season of Better Call Saul. Most think Kim’s death is inevitable in the remaining episodes of the Breaking Bad spinoff. ‘Better Call Saul’ fans fear for Kim Wexler
Since the beginning of Better Call Saul, fans have considered all of the reasons Kim isn’t in the original series. Most theories point to her demise at the end of Better Call Saul.
One theory even connects Kim’s death to a significant plot point in Breaking Bad. A fan on Reddit imagines the “worst” ending for Kim and Jimmy.
Their theory says Kim returns to Albuquerque after some time away, no doubt to escape whatever con she and Jimmy pull in the final season. They believe Kim dies in Flight 515, the airliner that collided with a charter plane above Walter White’s (Bryan Cranston) home in Breaking Bad Season 2.
Other fans think Kim could have been in the charter plane flight 515 crashed into. Either way, fans see showrunner Vince Gilligan tying Better Call Saul into the narrative of Breaking Bad somehow.
‘Breaking Bad’ color theory could hint at Kim Wexler winning in the end
Kim’s attire in Better Call Saul has become iconic to many fans, including her perfect ponytail. But Kim is often wearing the color blue — a color that spelled out death for many characters in Breaking Bad.
Kim’s blue motif might suggest a dark ending for the “innocent” character who chose the wrong path. In the original series, blue symbolized purity in many instances, from Walter’s blue meth to Skyler White (Anna Gunn), but it also spelled out loss. As Screen Rant pointed out,” the price of purity seems to be death.”
On the other hand, Gilligan also used blue in Breaking Bad to evoke innocence. Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) wore blue when he met Jane’s father and when he was interrogated by Hank Schrader (Dean Norris). In theory, Kim could be dressed in blue as a cover to conceal her deceitful side — the side Jimmy realized was taking over his partner in crime at the end of Better Call Saul Season 5.
Bob Odenkirk hints at Kim surviving the final season of ‘Better Call Saul’
Despite what fans are buzzing about, Better Call Saul frontman Odenkirk thinks Jimmy and Kim part ways for reasons outside of death. “I’ve been told by [co-creator] Peter Gould that when Better Call Saul wraps up, everyone will see Breaking Bad in a different light,” Odenkirk told The Hollywood Reporter in March 2021.
Could that mean fans will see the Saul Goodman they met in Breaking Bad in a different light because he was ultimately conned by the woman he loves? If the Sandpiper case plays out the way some fans think it will, that could be the case. But only time will tell.
