David Ginola has signed up to I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! as he prepares to head to Wales this month.

The French footballing legend will be among many stars expected to head into Gwrych Castle to face a number of gruelling challenges for the ITV show.

It comes after he vowed to "live life to the full" following a heart attack on the pitch which saw his life saved by a player who performed CPR.

Clearly living up to his words, he has now decided to throw his hat in the ring as he takes on the famous I'm A Celebrity stint.

Speaking to The Mirror, a source said: "David is a huge name in international football and he's had a fascinating life, so everyone's thrilled that he's going into the castle.

"Ant and Dec might actually be a bit starstruck, which would be funny to see."

The duo, who are both from Newcastle, would witness David, who played for Newcastle United, enter the castle – so it's likely the pair could get a little starstruck.

David previously suffered cardiac arrest during a charity match in France where he collapsed and fell unconscious.

Fellow player Frederic Mendy performed CPR for over eight minutes until medics arrived with a defibrillator.

He was then airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Monaco where he had emergency surgery.

A pal later said that David felt he was given a "second chance" after the horrifying ordeal and wants to "live life to the full".

His I'm A Celeb debut will be set in Wales once again as the Covid-19 pandemic forced ITV bosses to keep the fan-favourite show in the UK rather than its usual digs of Australia.

It was first set up in Wales in 2020 following the pandemic and global lockdowns, and while Australia's rules remain strict, the series will take place in the UK once more.

I'm A Celebrity will be starting on Sunday, November 21.
