Jill Duggar is notoriously on the outs with the rest of the Duggar family. While she used to star in TLC’s Counting On with Jim Bob Duggar, Michelle Duggar, and her 18 siblings, she’s since taken a step away with her husband Derick Dillard. Now, it looks like Jill might actually be seeing her family more often than fans and critics think, as a photo was posted of her with her siblings on the Duggar Family Instagram.
Does Jill Duggar talk to her family? She was featured in a recent Duggar family photo

Jill starred in Counting On and 19 Kids and Counting along with the other Duggars, and it’s how she attained the fame and following she has today. But at the end of 2019, fans knew something was up. Followers of Jill and Derick asked why they didn’t appear to attend Duggar family events, and Derick explained they’re on the outs. Derick also noted Jill needs permission from Jim Bob to go to the family home.
So, does Jill talk to her family today? It seems she does keep in touch with her siblings and parents, though she admitted via a YouTube video many of them don’t approve of the way she lives her life.
“Are they supportive? Not always,” Jill said. “Everybody’s gonna have their opinion about different things. I feel like some of my siblings are probably more like, have something to say about it than others.”
Despite the rift, the Duggar Family Instagram featured Jill in two photos with the rest of her siblings. The photos appear to be from Justin Duggar’s wedding. Jill made it known she attended her younger brother’s big day. “Happy #NationalSiblingsDay from the Duggars!!” the Instagram post reads. “Having a large family is an adventure, but it has been so worth it!”
Why did Jill and Derick leave ‘Counting On’?
There’s plenty of speculation surrounding why Jill and Derick chose to leave the rest of the Duggar family behind in filming Counting On. Ultimately, the couple decided it was what was best for their specific situation and their two sons.
“We left the show three years ago now because, basically, our family goals that we had for ourselves didn’t align with what we found out … we ended up finding out that we didn’t have as much control over our lives as it related to the show,” Jill noted in yet another YouTube video. She also noted she has absolutely zero regrets when it comes to leaving the show behind.
“No, we don’t regret leaving the show,” she added. “We feel like it was the best thing for our family, especially at that time.”
The couple hasn’t completely counted out coming back to the show in the future, though. “We would only consider doing filming if we had a say in the terms of our arrangement,” he admitted to The Sun.
Jill appears to be more involved with the Duggars in 2021
Despite leaving Counting On and possibly remaining on the outs with the rest of her famous family, it does look like Jill’s getting more involved with the rest of the Duggar family. Not only did she attend Justin’s wedding with her parents and siblings, but she’s also given Jessa and Jana Duggar shout-outs on social media.
Back in January 2021, Jill told her YouTube viewers Jessa stopped by her home to drop off kombucha ingredients. And in April 2021, Jill called Jana “Jana Gaines” as a play on Joanna Gaines, the famous homemaker from HGTV’s Fixer Upper.
“I’m not my sister, but I’m pulling out all my wannabe #janagaines (@janamduggar) skills & hoping for the best!” Jill posted to Instagram.
Perhaps Duggar fans really will get to see Jill back with her siblings on future episodes of Counting On. There’s no doubt fans would adore that.
