Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards confirms ITV return after son Jamal’s tragic death

Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards is set to return to the show’s panel for the first time after her son Jamal’s premature death.

The 31-year-old died from a sudden illness back in February which resulted in a hiatus from his mother Brenda, a regular panellist on the lunchtime programme.

She took a break to focus on her family as they mourned the loss of Jamal, a music entrepreneur who founded the online platform SB TV.

The music mogul was also an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, a youth charity which helps young people set up their own businesses.

It has been confirmed that Brenda will appear on the ITV show on 25 April and a preview clip has shown her opening up about the loss of her son.

The singer spoke to co-star Coleen Nolan about her grief and said: “It has been great, having the ladies there. That is something that has been a big part of mine and the kids’ lives. I need to return.”

Brenda had confirmed the news of her son’s death in February with a statement which was shared with ITV’s early morning show Good Morning Britain.

She wrote: “It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness. Myself, his sister Tanisha, and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world.”

Brenda went on to ask the public for privacy as the family “grieve this unimaginable loss” and thanked everyone for their “messages of love and support”.

She called him an “inspiration to herself and so many” and that "their love and his legacy will live on”.

She signed off with: “Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PhD.”

Jamal was awarded an MBE in 2014 for his services to music as the businessman's presence was huge on the UK music scene.

His death shocked the nation as he was well known for playing a big role in the lives of some of the UK’s biggest stars.

He helped kickstart the careers of popular big-name artists such as Dave, Ed Sheeran and Jessie J after he achieved success from his YouTube channel SB TV.
