During Wednesday’s instalment of Lorraine, the presenter revealed she’ll be taking an unexpected break from her popular self-titled ITV show. Not giving a reason behind her absence, she confirmed Loose Women star Christine Lampard will be filling in.

The 62-year-old has fronted her own show on ITV since 2010 as viewers tune in each morning during the week to hear the latest headlines and topics.

Usually, the Scottish host is only absent from her show during the summer holidays when she takes some time off to visit her friends and family.

During her time away, fans often see either Christine Lampard or Ranvir Singh fill in while Lorraine is off for a few weeks.

However, at the end of her Wednesday show the regular host announced an unexpected break as she told fans who they’d be seeing on Thursday instead.

Bringing the hour-long programme to an end, she cut to This Morning’s Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for viewers to learn what would be coming up next.

Hearing Alison Hammond was speaking to Hollywood royalty Jeff Bridges, Lorraine commented: “I look forward to that, I love Alison’s interviews.

“The big giant stars, they don’t quite know what’s going on and it’s fantastic!”

She said: “That’s all for today, Christine is here tomorrow with Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler, you have a great day.”

Although the 62-year-old hasn’t revealed the reason behind her absence for Thursday’s show, it could be related to her recent anniversary with her husband Steve Smith.

The ITV host told viewers on Monday she was slightly hungover after her daughter Rosie threw her a surprise 30th anniversary party over the weekend.

Speaking to GP Amir Khan about the celebrations, she confessed to having no idea about her daughter’s secret plans.

She said: “My little brother came over from Singapore with his lovely girlfriend Anisa. So many people were there and I had absolutely no idea. It was lovely.

“All the attention to detail – even the flowers Rosie had done were the flowers that were in my bouquet 30 years ago. It was so lovely.”

Joking he could see two wine glasses in her hand as Lorraine showed viewers some snaps from the party, she confessed she didn’t stop over the entire weekend.

She added: “We had the lovely John Kelly – no relation, but he kind of is like my brother – and he threw us another party yesterday.

“Because you know when you have a party and you have tons of booze left, so you don’t know what to do? Then, you have another one. It was great. Really good.”

Aside from anniversary celebrations, the TV favourite has been busy recently as she’s delved into a new history venture.

Teaming up with Sky History, Lorraine will be guiding viewers through World War Two as she learns more about her grandfather who fought in it.

In the documentary, which airs next month, the presenter will also be speaking to various experts to decipher what facts are true and which have been fabricated over the years.

Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 9am
