Maddy Hill returns to filming EastEnders after 'breaking leg'

EastEnders star Maddy Hill has been spotted on her way back to filming with what looks like a broken leg.

The actress, who plays Nancy Carter, was pictured on crutches and wearing a moon boot, as she headed towards the set of the BBC One soap.

The 32-year-old was seen in the company of co-star James Farrar, who plays on-screen love interest Zack Hudson.

Maddy joined the cast of the long-running serial drama nine years ago.

Nancy dramatically burst onto screens, becoming an instant fan-favourite, as she was escorted from her own wedding by none other than dad Mick (Danny Dyer)!

Mick and wife Linda (Kellie Bright) were both intent on putting a stop to proceedings, as they weren’t overly keen on the ceremony.

Nancy would go on to feature in a number of huge storylines in the years that followed, and she is fondly remembered by viewers for her relationship with Tamwar Masood (Himesh Patel).

Maddy, 32, decided to leave the show after three years, with her final scenes airing in 2016.

But following a stint in Casualty as paramedic Ruby, the soap star made an explosive return to Walford as Nancy in April last year.

Since then, the character has taken centre stage in many huge storylines, with the biggest being her life-threatening injuries after being left for dead in a hit-and-run.

But what made the whole situation all the more complicated was that Nancy’s very own sister Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis) was driving the car in question.

After discovering what had transpired, Nancy would seek revenge on her sibling, locking her in the boot of her own car.

But she would ultimately come to regret her actions, as Frankie’s car was stolen while she was trapped inside. Thankfully, Frankie was found before it was too late, but the experience left her shaken – so much so that she decided to depart the Square.

In real-life, actress Rose Ayling-Ellis was written out of the show for a short while in order to compete in last year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

She would go on to win the competition.

James, meanwhile, recently became a dad for the first time, after wife Ali gave birth in November of last year.

The soap star confirmed their happy baby news on Instagram, sharing the first photo of their bundle of joy.

Taking to his story, the 35-year-old posted an update on his story of the tot, while tagging his loved ones.

‘Life will never stand still again and nor will I! #bobbinglife,’ he captioned the sweet snap.

Ali had previously announced in July that she and James were set to start a family, alongside a snap of James cradling her growing baby bump.

James made his EastEnders debut as Zack last year, when it was revealed that the character was a secret brother of mainstay Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).

The actor had previously appeared in the BBC One soap in 2011.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
