The wildly successful Apple TV+ drama is currently filming its third season following a string of Emmy awards and nominations for its acclaimed follow-up from last year. Lead star and creator Jason Sudeikis has yet to confirm Ted Lasso’s future after it was initially reported to conclude with season three, and Leslie Higgins star Jeremy Swift has now weighed in with an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.

Jeremy confirmed he is definitely willing to return for more seasons of Ted Lasso, but admitted Jason and the cast are still unsure of the plans after the next outing.

While co-creator Brendan Hunt, who portrays Coach Beard, revealed season three may not be the last, there has still not been an official word from Apple TV+.

Still filming season three, Jeremy has promised fans the next chapter for AFC Richmond will be well worth the wait.

“It’s going very well,” he told Express.co.uk. “There’s just a lot of finessing.”

“There’s a lot of invention, it’s going to be a fantastic, stellar series.”

Unfortunately, he was unable to confirm whether season three will conclude with room for Ted and the team to return for season four.

“I know you’re probably going to ask if it’s the last one,” he continued. “Nobody knows that, literally.

“Everybody asks it and I think the only person who can give an answer is Jason and I don’t think, probably, even he knows.”

For now, Jason and the show’s cast and crew are focussing everything on making sure Ted Lasso’s third season is the best it can be.

In the meantime, Jeremy has been working on his second album as a singer after the release of his new single, Wonderland.

While his schedule is becoming packed after Ted Lasso’s success, he would still find time to reprise his role as Higgins if Jason decides to continue the series past its third instalment.

“Oh, sure, yeah,” he confirmed when Express.co.uk asked if he’d be willing to return.

As to where Higgins could go next, he admitted: “I have no idea… I’ve tried to give suggestions in the past, but they just come up with better ones.

“And there’ll be a storyline that’s completely different to what I suggested, so I just have to go with their very good taste and creativity.”

Although the show’s millions of fans will naturally be hoping Ted Lasso to continue far into the future, the success of the show’s cast could make finding time to film much more difficult.

“Pretty much everybody in the show… it’s a huge springboard career-wise,” Jeremy explained.

“Everybody will go on – I can’t tell you exactly what people are doing, but people will go on to do very big things indeed.

“I have a lead in an American film which is filming next March and April.”

Fans have already seen Brett Goldstein making an appearance in the latest Marvel blockbuster, Thor: Love and Thunder, but, hopefully, the rest of the cast can find time for more heartwarming adventures with AFC Richmond.

Ted Lasso seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Apple TV+.
