Yellowstone season five will air on The Paramount Network and fans have been left with plenty of questions. In season four, Kayce Dutton (played by Luke Grimes) and Monica (Kelsey Asbille) were living very separate lives from the rest of the Duttons. Following one of Kayce’s visions he told Monica he saw “the end of us” – but what did he mean?

Will Kayce leave Monica in Yellowstone?

Fans of the Western melodrama saw Kayce’s vulnerability in the fourth season as he started hallucinating again.

As part of his post-traumatic stress disorder, he witnessed himself back in his Navy SEAL days.

He also saw a mysterious woman who spoke to him about the different paths he could take in his life.

Wife Monica asked what he had seen, and he told her he had witnessed “the end of us”.

While some fans interpreted this to mean the end of the Duttons as a family, others expect it relates to Kayce and Monica alone.

Taking to Reddit, viewers discussed whether Kayce could leave Monica and their son Tate (Brecken Merrill) in order to save them.

VegitarianCow said: “Kayce was shown two paths. He got to choose which path to walk.

“The first path, he had an immediate negative reaction and said, ‘Oh, God, no’.

“The second path, his spirit guide said she’d give him strength to walk the path he chose.

“My interpretation is that the first path, he saw himself staying with Monica and Tate and they all die.

“The second path, he leaves Monica and she and Tate live long, happy lives without him.”

If this is the case, it could mean Kayce will leave his family behind as part of the ultimate sacrifice.

However, some fans disagreed, with A-girl-named-SUE saying: “I can’t imagine Kayce saying that to Monica if the ‘us’ meant them.

“That would take one mean-spirited son of a gun to tell his wife that a few days after she announced her pregnancy.

“Kayce has shown only love and kindness in all things regarding Monica.

“Ok, so he got a little worked up in the scene where he was dragging Tate from under the bed.

“Monica didn’t show any emotion when Kayce said that so I think the vision was only for the benefit of viewers. Will certainly help to keep us in suspense and anticipating season five.”

Others suggested he was referring to the family in general, whether this be losing the ranch or all meeting their deaths in the next big battle.

Yet there is still a strong chance his words foreshadow the end of Kayce and Monica.

The Dutton sibling had also seen Avery (Tanaya Beatty) in a romantic sense, so this could indicate a new relationship is on the way.

AnnaNonna said: “I took the ‘us’ to mean Kayce and Monica.

“I believe the purpose of that ritual was to find out what the wolf was trying to tell him about his life.

“I don’t think it was supposed to be a look into the future of anyone or anything else.”

Another fan agreed, adding: “The kiss with Avery took me more into that conclusion.”

Kayce may find himself having to make a choice of whether he saves himself or his wife and child.

Yellowstone season 5 will air on The Paramount Network. Seasons 1-3 on Peacock and season 4 on The Paramount Network now.
