My parents are millionaires but they’re so cheap – they wear ripped clothes & leave dirty rags around the house | The Sun

AN AMERICAN woman claims her parents are millionaires, but they’re such cheapskates almost everything in their house is broken.

TikTok user Faith, who calls herself Gould Standard on the social media platform, went viral after sharing a video of her parents’ budget furnishings.

Faith’s clip has amassed over three million views and almost 2,000 people have commented to share how much they hate it.

The clip begins with a view of a marbled kitchen worktop and a battered cleaning spray bottle teetering on the edge.

Text reads: “When your parents are millionaires and also the cheapest people ever.”

Faith captioned the clip: “Probably why they have so much money.”

Moving to the home office, she shows viewers a filthy rag folded up on her dad’s desk.

Faith then zooms in on her dad’s favourite knitted jumper.

It’s a navy blue design complete with diamond pattern and a huge hole in one of the sleeves.

“My dad’s sweater that he wears everyday,” the text continues, focusing on all of the tatty pulled threads.

Also in the home is a $10 shoe rack which Faith claims broke in half decades ago.

The rack is covered in dirt and dust, but it seems her parents aren’t willing to part with it.

Moving back to the kitchen, the camera zooms in on a retro white plastic toaster. There’s four slots for bread, but one half of the item appears to be unusable.

“The pencilled ‘x’ has always marked the side that doesn’t work,” reveals Faith.

Faith’s avid followers couldn’t wait to share their opinions on her parent’s strange possessions.

One empathetic user replied: “I grew up like this and I absolutely hate it. I’ll never live like this again.

“I won’t overspend but if something is old just move on.”

A second user related to Faith’s situation, confessing: “My dad makes like 550k a year and only shops at goodwill and Walmart.”

And a third exclaimed: “This is my dad…doesn’t spend an effing penny. Same watch since he was 14, using an old Sony Ericsson phone. Millionaire…”

Some made light of the situation, with a funny woman asking: “So what do they do with the money? Just hoarding for fun?”

But others tried to make excuses for their tight purse strings and suggested their habits extended from childhood.
