The Chase viewers open-mouthed as contestant makes HUGE blunder over shockingly ‘easy question’

THE Chase viewers were gobsmacked after a contestant made a HUGE blunder over a shockingly "easy question".

Host Bradley Walsh was joined by 21-year-old student Romer on Friday's instalment.

The Durham University chemistry student told the presenter that he plans to use the prize money to travel the world.

He also told the host that he hopes to work in the civil service – leaving Bradley stumped.

The TV host joked: "To be in the spy or something?"

The contestant replied: "I like politics and policymaking, I think it's a good fit for my skillset."

However, things got off to a wobbly start and the student was immediately puzzled on the first cash builder question.

Bradley asked: "What does the L in the motoring term L-driver stand for?"

Looking perplexed, the contestant hesitantly replied: "Left."

Bradley was bemused by the incorrect response, with the host stating the correct answer is "Learner".

ITV viewers were bewildered by the the contestant's major blunder.

One wrote: "OMG!! How does this contestant not know what L-driver means?! #TheChase"

Another hilariously posted: "What does the 'L' stand for in the term L-driver?

"Romer: Left

"Bradley: Learner ??."

A third added: "What's the L plate stand for in driving? 'Left' Can't lie that made me laugh. ? #TheChase"

"I'm baffled that he doesn't know what the L in L-driver means, it's such an easy question. #TheChase," another commented.

Despite a rocky start, Romer managed to secure £4,000 and went face-to-face with Mark 'The Beast' Labbett.

Unfortunately, the student was caught by the quizmaster and his time on the show was over.

Romer's teammates managed to make it back to the final round with a total prize pot of £20,000.

Retired teacher Simon, 66, escape room manager Sammy, 40 and carer Vicky, 51 made got 13 questions right in the last chase.

Despite successfully executing one pushback, the team were caught with 42 seconds remaining and left empty-handed.
